Lack of Exercise

With the advancement of technology, everyday tasks in life have become more convenient, making effort levels decrease and sedentary levels to increase. As a result of a more stationary lifestyle, obesity rates in America continue to rise.

Risks of a Sedentary Lifestlye

No physical activity or exercise for an extended period of time can cause weight gain, which could lead to obesity (which is classified as having a BMI of 30.0 or greater)

As a result of being obese, an individual increases their risk of developing type 2 diabetes because of the excessive body fat amount.

Obesity negatively affects insulin action and B-cell function which is linked to Type 2 diabetes since it is caused by multi-organ resistance to insulin

(Klein et al., 2021).
